Sorrel, also known as dried hibiscus, is packed with many nutrients. It is known to help lower blood pressure, increase good cholesterol and may aid in weight loss. This drink is a staple in our family, especially in the summer and early autumn when the hibiscus plant sepals are harvested. We hope you enjoy this recipe!
4 cups of sorrel (Dried hibiscus flowers)
4 cinnamon sticks
2 tsp ground cinnamon powder
1 tbsp cloves
1 thumb of ginger, grated
2 gallons of water
2 cups of sugar (or honey)
- Add water, sorrel, ginger, cloves cinnamon stick and ground cinnamon to the pot and bring it to boil.
- Let contents in the pot steep for 1 hour.
- Add sugar to sweeten. Add more to taste if preferred.
- Let drink cool and serve with ice!
